Curtis Allen, 26 Months

Where do I even start, I've been meaning to write this post for awhile. It's so hard to put into words, how absolutely wonderful our son is. Curtis is so many things, he's a comedian,  a tender heart, an old soul, a happy smile on a gloomy day.

He's growing up into such a big guy.
He's taller then ever, and still sports the beautiful blonde curls.
Watch out girls, because this kid's a looker.

If you ask for hugs or kisses, he is right there giving you some. If he thinks someone is in pain, crying, or sad he immediately asks "You Okay?" and puts his sweet little hands tenderly on the person. He can wiggle his booty and dance when he hears the beat of music. His vocabulary is still growing, he says so much! He often gets excited and can't get out the words fast enough. He loves his Grandparents, and talks about them all often. He can name all his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He loves driving daddy's truck, we often walk to the end of our street waiting for daddy. When Bradley arrives Curtis hops in the front seat and helps "drive" into the cul-de-sac.
The only way we can get him out of the truck, is telling him that "Daddy's truck has to go night night"

If we're not out waiting for him on the sidewalk, he's looking out the window next to the door, a good 20-30minutes before Bradley arrives home.

He also gets very excited about Grandma's car. He always talks about it gamma's car, and how he wants to go bye bye in it. Pretty sure our car is chop liver.

He is all boy. Trucks, loud noises, dirt, bugs, sand, being outside.

He'd play outside all day long if I'd let him, rain, snow, or sunshine.

He's the sweetest little guy, and I know he's going to be an awesome big brother.

Wordless Wednesday: 24

Today is gloomy, Today is rainy, Today is  My Birthday.

Who says rain has to damper a Celebration? Who says drama has to damper a Birthday? I don't!

That is why I devoured delicious mini-bundt cakes in the afternoon, and dinned at Maggianos with my Love.

I sipped on a peach pomegranate lemonade, and enjoyed watching the rain from our table. Thanks for the Birthday date Mr. H! Love you!

Where does the time go?

Bump Watch: 17 Weeks

Pregnancy: 17 Weeks

Weight Gain: I haven't weighed myself this week, to be honest I'm avoiding it. I go in next week for appointment and I'm not sure I've gained anything else since the original 4-5lbs.

Sleep: Fairly decent, for a small bladder that I have.

GenderGIRL! As long as no boy parts show up next week at the ultrasound all systems are a go for a baby girl!

Names: Evelyn Dawn read about why we named her that here

Maternity clothes: Pretty much all stretchy pants and maternity jeans now. Got a few shirts from Target for under $5 each! Was excited about that!

Feeling: Been feeling pretty good lately, still falling asleep on the couch every night. My lower back and hips have been hurting, pretty sure she is all in my back. Made a chiropractor apt for Thursday morning, hoping to work out some sort of plan for this pregnancy.

Movement: She's getting stronger and stronger each day, I love feeling her little taps.

Next Appointment: Wednesday May 30th with Midwife, Thursday May 31st with Peri. The multiple appointments start!

Milestones:
our baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Life Updates...

Hi! We're still here, this past week has been a whirlwind, and I honestly haven't felt like blogging much. I took a much needed mini-break, I would sit down at night and try are write...but nothing came out. I've had Curtis's   26month post sitting in the draft pile for awhile now.

I will be getting that post up today, and have a few in the works... like the 17/18 week bump updates. Life is going by so fast, I can't believe it is already May 22nd.... {not to mention my birthday tomorrow}

Enjoy these pictures of Curtis and I being silly with the camera. He's obsessed with "Cheesin" for the camera lately, unfortunately our camera is old and takes foooorrevverr to take a picture...which explains so many iphone photos lately. But more on the subject of camera's later!

FUTURE POSTS:
Tuesday: Curtis Allen 26 Months / 17 Week Bump Update
Wednesday: Wordless Wednesday Birthday Edition
Thursday: 18 Week Bump Update

Bump Watch: 16 Weeks {4 days}

Pregnancy: 16 Weeks

Weight Gain: I'm hoping I've gained weight, I feel like it. I'm eating all sorts of yummy, it helps a panera bread opened up right around the corner..Pretty sure I'm consuming 2 bagels a day.

Sleep: Last week I was saying how my sleep was going so much better. Yeah this week was not the same. I was up going the bathroom 4 times last night!! 4!!! I've decided to stop drinking fluids after 7:30pm in hopes it helps my bladder. Then Evelyn woke me up 2 different times with tiny little kicks, that was a sweet surprise.

Gender: GIRL! As long as no boy parts show up in 2 weeks at the next ultrasound all systems are a go for a baby girl!

Names: Evelyn Dawn read about why we named her that here

Maternity clothes: The rubber band around the pants are not working great anymore. I'm wondering if Evelyn is going to carry the same way Curtis did...all really low and right in my pelvic bones. It made wearing pants (and walking) impossible for awhile. I did just get a comfy black sun dress at Target yesterday for Mothers day!
Feeling: Feeling a lot better this week, no more severe cramping. More just the normal RL Pain and expanding.

Movement: I'm noticing her more at night, not sure if it's because I'm finally sitting down still and noticing it. However when I hold her cousin Bonnie, Evelyn goes crazy with little punches..apparently she doesn't like the cousin cramping her space.

Next Appointment: Wednesday May 30th with Midwife, Thursday May 31st with Peri. The multiple appointments start!

Milestones: In the next few weeks, Evelyn will double her weight and add inches to her length. Right now, she's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. Her legs are much more developed, her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. Her ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her locks aren't recognizable yet. She's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Mothers & Names

Happy Mothers Day! I hope all the Mommy's out there got a well deserved break, and some pampering!

In honor of Mothers day, and our recent announcement of our lil girl. In case you missed it in the video announcement  our little girl's name will be...

Evelyn Dawn

We had our girl named picked out for awhile, since it took us awhile to conceive this little baby we often talked about names. We always looked at our family's names in generations pasted. I think it's a pretty special thing to name a child in honor of a family member. Curtis's middle name, is also a family name.

Evelyn... is named after my Great Grandmother Evelyn C*.
My Fathers Mothers Mother is Evelyn C*
My Grammy Barbara P* Mother.
My Great Grandmother.
Our Evelyns Great Great Grandmother.

Pictured above, is me with Great Grandma Evelyn {circa 1988}. Although I didn't get to know her as well as I would've liked because I was so young when she passed, I'm still grateful for her and pleased that my daughter will be named after her.

Dawn... Her middle name comes from none other then my Mother. Dawn Karen P*.
When coming up with a name that flowed nicely with Evelyn, yet still had meaning. We quickly thought of Dawn. My Mom plays a very special role in our lives. Not only is she my Mother, but she truly is my best friend. After we said Evelyn Dawn aloud, we were sold on the name. Plus I think my Mom was happy too, that finally one of her 15 grandchildren are named after her.

We are so thankful for all the amazing women in our lives, we are so blessed our daughter will grow up surrounded by graceful, faith filled, merciful, strong, humble women. We couldn't ask for better mentors, then our Mom's and Grandmothers!

Perinatal Appointment Update

*possible TMI ahead, but as this blog serves as a memory book, I need to remember all these details of this pregnancy*

This morning I went in to see a High-Risk Perinatologist Doctor. Because of my complications with Curtis's pregnancy, I needed to see him and go over issues that could arise with this pregnancy.
They did ultrasounds of the baby, took measurements and as of now the baby is looking really good. Measuring on track, Nose Bone intact, Brain/kidneys all looking great, Heart doing wonderful as well.

They measured my cervix (my main concern, as I had a short cervix with Curtis) and it was above average right now. Which was great.

Our Game Plan for the rest of this pregnancy..

I will continue to have my appointments with my Midwife
May 31st -18 week ultrasound, to again check baby measurements & Cervical Length.
If my cervix is shortening, they will start me on progesterone to help lengthen it.
If the progesterone doesn't help, the will do a clerage (A stitch in the cervix) and most likely bed rest at that time.
Starting at 24 weeks I having ultrasounds done every 3-4 weeks to measure the growth of baby & placenta (Curtis & Placenta were small)
I will also be going in every 2 weeks to measure the fluid level in the uterus, because of my history.

SO LOTS of appointments & ultrasounds.

Now in case you are wondering....I wonder if they found out the sex of Baby Pumpkin, since they did an ultrasound today.  Well just so happens we DID :) However you're going to have to wait a little while before we announce it, need to tell family members first :)

In the mean time take a look at some pictures..

Make Shift Date

Awhile ago, Bradley informed me we had to attend a fundraiser event for El Sistema Colorado. CIOMIT (My Father's company, and where my husband works) have been supporting El Sistema, by ordering musical instruments for them, and repairing them as well. They wanted to honor CIOMIT during the fundraiser.

We received formal black & white invite, they were serving wine & hor dourves between 5:30-7pm.

Now became the options of what to wear. I took out the best dresses that would fit me during this awkward belly state. I figured I either needed to try and show that I was pregnant, or hide it.

Dress options. After asking some girlfriends, I decided to go with the Red dress, I wasn't sure if it would be toooo fancy for the occasion. But I lucked out, and I fit in perfectly with the High-Profile Denver Society that was at the event.

Yummy hor dourves, Bradleys Wine, and my... lemon-aid (whomp whomp)

After  hearing 1st/2nd graders play on their violins, the auctions started...I have to say Bradleys & I's jaws dropped a little at the amount of money the auctions where starting at...not to mention what they ended at. We were diffidently not in Castle Rock anymore.

After our "duties" we called the babysitter aka:Grandma, and asked if she was willing to stay a lil longer while we grabbed dinner. It was past my dinner time, and the little meatballs I had wasn't cutting it for the baby belly.

We ended up at our favorite seafood restaurant Pappadeaux, where we ate yummy tilapia and crab.

After our delicious dinner, happy full-mama!

It was nice to spend some alone time with the Mr. even if it did mean mingling with the perfume clad, pearl wearing, cigar smelling suites for part of the evening :)
